It's a hotly debated topic amongst Strategy Game players whether it's better to amass a large army or focus on few, stronger units.
And it should be, really, for whenever the best solution is clear, the game loses a significant portion of choice, options that lead to player engagement both in game and in the aforementioned discussions.
If one strategy is obviously the best, it might as well be the only strategy, saving a significant portion of development time that would otherwise be spent for allowing different approaches no one would ever use.
I will go into detail about this in this pdf,
and hopefully, I get a better "sales speech" for the next article when I get around to that; Advertising my own work is probably not a strength of mine.
Game Balancing Theory
In this blog, I'll post Essays about various game related topics. When I got no new "content" to present, I might ramble over various game related topics that I haven't had the time or motivation to write several pages for.

Hi all!
So, hello World!
This is my new blog.
As the header already describes, I will be posting my general thoughts about games, 'Game Design', and 'Game Balancing' in this blog.
When my time allows, I will create small essays about the above topics and provide them for free download through a link to my webspace or on other download sites.
The first such essay is about the balancing of Strategy games, and will be uploaded as soon as I'm happy with the formatting, likely with the next post.
You can find the current version in my webspace Application folder, the link to which is provided on the right.
Some Info about me:
I'm a 24 year old german Game Designer, currently looking for a new employment, preferably in europe.
I graduated from the "Games Academy" in Frankfurt, and have 18 months of job experience as an Intern and Game Balancer at Bigpoint GmbH in Hamburg.
If you're interested, you will find my CV with further Details in my webspace, linked on the right.
You'll find info about my Xing- and Linked-In Profiles and a contact email address there as well.
